It’s been an enormous weekend.
Friday we sold our house. It went smoothly and now it’s done, and however sadly I might feel about parts of it, it was indeed good to get it off our backs. We celebrated with pizza too, so that’s always a win.
Saturday, we finally met up with a family we had traded phone numbers with when we met them at the library (in MARCH lol) and actually hung out with them for the first time, at a little childrens’ festival at a park we’d never been to. The event was actually really overstimulating for me, and a little too busy to be great for Erica or the other family’s little girl. The lines for the things they’d be interested in were too long for them to actually maintain their interest til they got to the end of the line. Still, we had a nice time chatting and I’m looking forward to hanging out with them again.
Sunday, we went shopping for outdoor halloween decorations (and put them up! hell yeah!) We also went to a playground, got froyo, and walked the neighborhood.
Yesterday I sat on my ass. It was cold outside, though we did brave going on the front porch for a little while. I did also work on the new embroidery thing, for which at this point I’m just gonna share a progression of pics, cuz it’s already pretty far along and I still haven’t shared it. Here ya go.

And today I got some work done editing my friend’s manuscript, and we went to another playground. I’m getting better at small talk with other moms. Erica is getting braver physically, on the play equipment. She’s still shy as hell though. Both times we were at the playground kids came up and tried to interact with her and she was not having it. She legit says “nope” over and over when they get close sometimes 😂😠she’ll get there. In the meantime she’s transitioned to wearing big girl undies every day and is singing more and being more articulate every day. No developments on daycare over the weekend but we’re gonna call to schedule a tour or two this week, maybe tomorrow. I feel so torn about it. She needs the social interaction and education, but I will miss her so much. I love my girl.
Jamie is definitely teething, he screamed a lot all weekend and needed held SO MUCH even with orajel, but it’s okay cuz he’s my giggle bunny. That baby smiles and laughs more than any baby I’ve ever known. He really grins at the drop of a hat – he gets distracted while I’m trying to feed him cuz every twenty seconds or so he wants to unlatch to smile up at me. Which is both incredibly precious and fucking exhausting, lol. I love my boy.
Nate and I have been rewatching Ted Lasso or playing slay the spire together the past few nights and that has been fun and engaging. I miss dates with my husband.
We did a lot and I’m really proud of us. The Halloween decorations help the house feel more like ours. Making friends makes me happy. And getting the kids outside and active with us as a family is wonderful.
Yerp. Idk how to end longer posts.
…yerp.
