We’re closing on the sale of our old house tomorrow morning and I am dreading it. I’m really grieved to lose that home. I consider it to have been my first real home here, as an adult. It felt like mine, moreso than the home we’re living in and trying to build now, of course. I know these things come with time, and ultimately we’ll be happier here. But man, I am having such a hard time letting go.

It feels silly, being impacted so heavily. I took everything that was really important with me here. The arrangement was special, I guess. Or maybe I’m romanticizing the memory, already. There was plenty I complained about while I was there.

Sigh. Either way, it’s time to move on. A nice little sum from the sale will fund some fall decorations around here. We’ll paint the door and maybe rip up some carpets. It’ll come together, and I certainly celebrated when the new house was signed over to us. Hopefully tomorrow, I’ll celebrate it as a extra responsibility removed. But tonight, I’m definitely grieving the loss of a beloved home. Change is hard, maaaan.

We took Erica to a new park today. She rode on a merry go round (it’s in ground, so she can’t lose a leg) and climbed a rope ladder. I did the tiniest bit of work editing a friend’s book, and I thiiink I might’ve started a flower on the new embroidery thing I started recently that I still need to share here. That might’ve been today, idk. The days blur. I did call like eight daycares to try to figure out where to send Erica, which is fucking terrifying. More on that later. For now, bed. Up early tomorrow to sign papers. 🥲
