We took Erica to one for the first time today. It was so much fun. She went on a swing, which almost put her to sleep, but then I also helped her go down a couple slides and she crawled through a tunnel with me. It was truly amazing, she’s such a little kid. She can’t even really walk but it was a wonderful preview of how much fun things will be when she’s older.

We also went around a little trail. Oh my god, was it hot. But we stopped and sat on the grass partway through, and Erica toddled around holding my hand a little bit. So sweet.

It was wild, getting everything ready before we headed there. One of those very surreal “I’m definitely a parent and not just an adult responsible for myself anymore” moments. We even take better care of ourselves now because of it. Sunscreen went on, sunglasses and hats were acquired, water was packed. We never really prepared that much for a quick outing before, but lately with the heat we’ve definitely had to get into the habit of thinking about things ahead of time. It’s good. It’s expected. But it’s definitely very weird, too. Very new. I feel like more of an adult than before, somehow, though I would never say that an adult without children was less of an adult. Perhaps it’s just a stronger feeling of being a responsible adult, to whatever degree. I dunno man. Parenthood is wild.
