Writing at the close of the day… I have to get back into the habit of updating more frequently.
Today was a peacefully uneventful day. I played with Erica in the morning, got groceries and coffee while she napped, and read in the evening. She fussed a little for dinner, gave her little blender screams at bedtime for a bit, but those were the biggest hardships of the day, and I’m grateful.
The book I’m reading (assassins quest, robin hobb) is engaging and richly detailed, but I have mixed feelings about the plots. I’ve been able to predict more about this series and more accurately than really any other I can recall. But I’ve also been caught in surprise. And I even find myself a little appreciative of the ability to predict accurately for once. I feel like I shouldn’t like that, but I really am enjoying the series overall immensely. It’s an interesting experience.
Nate and I went for another walk today, after sundown cooled the air and Erica slept. The flowers people have in their gardens here are so lovely. The wide sidewalks and unbusy roads are so inviting. And, the in laws live close to a park. We walked to it, and got to stand transfixed, watching a deer grazing on the other side of an open field full of fireflies. I hadn’t seen such a number of them in so many years, it was absolutely enthralling. We just stood there, arms around each other while the sky went dimmer and the twinkling grew more pronounced. It felt like an enchanted place, in a fairy tale or a romance novel. I look forward to going again.
We also met a nice dog named Lana, and gave her many pets through her fence. She was very clearly a friendly good girl who loved the attention standing at the edge of her yard regularly got her. I’ll look forward to hopefully seeing her again sometime, too.
Another couple strange and beautiful flowers I don’t know the names of below.
Sleep tight, friends.
